Room 327, Tuesday Morning

Juliet had kind of missed the whole ponies thing, which would make her sad if she hadn't been spending the days in Regency England. It felt like she'd just fallen into Jane Austen, even if it was a little annoying that people kept asking where her escort was. (Juliet had learned to smile brightly and look right past these people, as if searching for someone far more interesting.)

She came back to the island with her prizes -- two new frocks of summer muslin, a bright-tinted bonnet, and an edition of Lamb's Tales from Shakespeare. She paged through the stories with one hand while she ate some genuine Regency lemon candies with the other, door open in case anyone interesting came down the hall.

"Are you getting offended?" Juliet asked, laughing a bit. "Oh -- here, let me show you in a mirror."

She reached to put Jeremy over her shoulder and walked him over to her dresser. "See? Ugly-cute. Very chic."

//What? I think that's totally cute! ... Well, okay, I'm not really sure about the sideburns and the coloring could be a little more interesting, and my face is kind of a mess but still. Cute cute!//

Sadly, all that she'd get from that was a whole lot of awkward pointing at the mirror.

"Yes, that's really you," Juliet said, misunderstanding the pointing. "See, he's pointing while you do."

She frowned a bit. "Do you know what you eat? Because all I can think of is bananas."

Jeremy was going to ignore the fact that she seemed to think he was dumber than usual, and instead focused on trying to shake his little marmoset head at the question.

No, he didn't know what to eat. Though he suspected bananas would be fine.

"I guess we'll figure it out as we go along," Juliet said. "And hey, at least whatever you are seems to be cool, right?"

Monkeys were automatically cool. Even if they were kinda ugly, in a cute way.

Jeremy made a sound that was probably meant to be an indignant sort of snort. Of course he was cool. Please, he always was.

Just ignore that he was having to perch on his sister's shoulder, and would probably be doing that for some days.
